Cocktail Hour, Yes Please!

Since the first day of spring is rapidly approaching, I’d figure we’d talk about cocktails.  Let’s be honest, anywhere there’s a cocktail/wine/adult beverage…you can find me close by.  I love to mingle and socialize and of course, drink fancy cocktails!  Cocktail hours are very common in weddings and we get lots of questions about what to drink for the boys and the girls.  Consider switching out some of the liquors or juices in any of these recipes to make them your own.  Here are some of my favorites!

Mojito

2 oz. White Rum (my favorite is Cruzan)

5 leaves of mint

2 lime wedges

0.5 oz simple syrup

Club soda

Muddle mint, lime and simple syrup together in a high ball glass.  Fill glass with ice, then pour white rum.  Pour into shaker, shake then pour back into glass.  Fill with club soda and garnish with a lime wedge.

Try switching it up with strawberries and lime, vanilla or even pomegranate!

Skinny Margarita

2.5 oz Silver Tequila (my favorite is El Jimador)

2 oz Lemon Juice

2 oz Lime Juice

Tiny splash of Orange Juice

Fill shaker with ice and combine all ingredients.  Pour into a fabulous margarita glass and garnish with a lime.

Goombay Smash

2 oz White Rum

2 oz Dark Rum

Orange Juice

Pineapple Juice

Splash of Grenadine

Fill shaker with ice and combine all ingredients.  Pour into a high ball glass.  Garnish with a cherry.

Brian’s Mudslide

2 oz Khalua or Coffee Liquor

2 oz Bailey’s or Irish Cream

2 oz Vodka

Combine 1 cup of ice and all ingredients in a blender.  Blend and pour into a rocks glass garnished with a chocolate syrup swirl.

Peach Bellini

4 oz champagne

Peach juice

Pour champagne in champagne glass, fill with peach juice and garnish with a peach!

Try using strawberries to add to your Bellini!

Ok no go and try some of your own!  One word of advice: kalamata olives are not the same as green olives and do not make for a good martini.  Ick.

Love, Laugher, and Joy,
